Meet John

Listening for a more community-focused Naperville

Home / Meet John

BarbaraHello, my name is John Krummen and welcome/ thank you for visiting my official website for my re-election campaign for Naperville City Council 2021.  I am very proud to have served on the Naperville city council since 2015.  I have been listening for a more community-focused Naperville.  I want to thank everyone who has voted for me in the past, and I hope I have earned and maintained your trust.  Being your councilman and serving the Naperville community is the greatest job in the world and a great honor.  We all contribute to this small town with great schools and a strong community feel.

My wife, Barbara, and I were married for 10 years.  She died after a long 4-year battle with ovarian cancer.  We were privileged to have two boys, David and Nathan who were 8 and 6 years old at her passing.  David, Nathan, and I moved to Naperville when they were in middle school.   We were instantly welcomed by the community by thoughtful neighbors, great schools, mentoring youth sports, and concerned religious communities.  The Naperville community helped me raise my boys.

I have a BSME and an MSME in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and an MBA from Indiana University.  I also hold the Six Sigma Black Belt and PMP certifications.  I have an automotive patent and have published multiple papers on automotive design. Additionally,  my team was awarded the project of the year by the American Rigging Association for a project we completed in the Nuclear Industry.

Lastly, I am an adjunct professor of Accounting, Finance, and Economics at Benedictine University and Concordia University.  And I am happy to announce that I have started teaching Economics at North Central College right here in Naperville, for the Spring  Semester of 2021.
